Newton County
is located in the state of Georgia. As of 2000, the population was 62,001. The county's explosive growth is evident with a population of 86,713 according to the 2005 U.S. Census Estimate, making it the 11th fastest growing county. The county seat is the city of Covington. This county is a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.

If watching professional sports, such as the Atlanta Braves or Falcons, is what you are looking for; both Turner Field and the Georgia Dome are less than an hour away. If you enjoy spending the day on the lake, you are within an hour’s drive of Lake Oconee. Also nearby is Stone Mountain Park.
