Newton
County Library is
the Newton County Library System. The Newton County Library System offers a wide
array of services and programs. Such programs and services include Library cards,
Loan Periods, Renewals, Meeting Rooms, Voter Registration, Information Services,
GALILEO, Children's Services, and Computer Services. The uses of computer services
are offered for a variety of purposes. Microsoft® Office is installed in all
the library’s computers. The sweet includes Word, Excel, Photo Editor, PowerPoint
& Publisher. High Speed Internet Access is available and Laptop’s can
access the internet through the Plug It In service in the study rooms. Another
excellent service offered at this library is GALILEO also known as GeorgiA LIbrary
LEarning Online.
GALILEO gains access to the World Wide Web-based virtual library
of over 100 databases indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals
including secured access to licensed products. Over 2000 journal titles are
provided in full-text. Other resources include encyclopedias, business directories,
and government publications. Heritage Room genealogy research offers a menu
with a variety of web sites, information from various genealogical and historical
resources, plus Family Treemaker Archives on CD.
Educational Games focusing on topics such as reading, math,
problem solving, grammar, geography and computer literacy are available for
children. Assistance with finding books can be acquired through NoveList®.
In addition, Newton County Library System forms part of PINES library. PINES
library allows patrons to see the holdings of every participating library, increasing
his access to materials.
